What is LIS (Extra Help)?

The Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) is a federal program that helps Medicare beneficiaries with limited income and resources pay for their Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. If you qualify, you could save thousands of dollars per year on:

✅ Monthly Part D premiums
✅ Annual deductibles
✅ Copayments and coinsurance for prescriptions

Many people qualify and don’t even realize it!

Who Qualifies for LIS?

You may be eligible for Extra Help if you have:
🔹 Limited income (based on federal poverty guidelines)
🔹 Limited resources (such as savings, investments, and real estate, excluding your home)
🔹 Medicare Part A and/or Part B coverage

Even if your income is slightly above the limit, you may still qualify for partial Extra Help.

How Much Can You Save?

With Extra Help, your prescription drug costs can be significantly reduced. You’ll pay no more than:
💊 $0 to low monthly premiums (depending on your plan)
💊 No or low deductibles
💊 $0 to low copays for generic and brand-name medications
